Heuristic Evaluation Instrument
To develop a more wholistic instrument for evaluation of digital interfaces, a multi-disciplinary team audited existing heuristic tools, identified deficiencies in their use and scope, and developed a new online version that could be quickly, consistently, and effectively deployed.
The new tool emphasized a broader examination of an interface through a balanced view of usability that accounted for design, brand, and content considerations; often minimized by other heuristic tools. The resulting tool also simplified the evaluation process by grouping areas of evaluation and emphasizing overall experience of using the interface, rather than primarily dissecting the interface separate from a natural scenario of use.
The heuristic tool is a helpful aid in setting priorities and establishing early evidence for funding or project pitches.
