Greetings,

My name is Clinton Carlson. I’m an Associate Professor of Visual Communication Design at the University of North Texas. In addition to teaching, I keep an active design practice, research societal issues, raise a family, coach baseball, and smoke meat in Denton, Texas.

I am currently updating this website and should have it live by the middle of January, 2018. Please stop back then to see the full site. In the meantime, you can contact me here.

Designer

I’ve practiced design for twenty years, working with organizations large and small. My practice has included traditional brand-oriented design, interactive design, design research, and public-interest design.

Educator

As an educator, I’ve taught at all levels of the curriculum. In recent years, I’ve focused more on developing interactive curriculum, but enjoy opportunities to teach introductory and traditional design courses.

Researcher

As a researcher, I have focused on public-interest issues such as food recalls, public health, and student loans. I am interested in applying evidence-based and participatory design methods to societal issues.

Design Practice

I began my career focused on brand and publication design, evolved into information-driven design, and now practice across the design spectrum—including interactive design and research.
